Tools and strategies for successful scaling up of TB preventive treatment

The session will provide an overview of global data and WHO recommendations and tools from the WHO Global Programs on HIV, Hepatitis and STIs and the Global Tuberculosis Programme, a review of the Initiative Global Fund strategy on preventive treatment of tuberculosis (TPT) in people living with HIV, and a presentation on the exploitation of short-course TPT regimens by IMPAACT4TB/AURUM Institute.
There will be presentations from Uganda, Kenya and Indonesia sharing effective tools and resources for successful TPT scale-up. The question-and-answer session will allow participants to actively participate in the event.
- Galvanize global efforts to scale up TB preventive treatment (TPT) among people living with HIV and children exposed to TB to accelerate uptake of new, shorter treatment regimens recommended by WHO as preferred options.
- To provide high TB/HIV burden countries and a wider audience with an overview of country experiences, challenges, bottlenecks and enablers for scaling up TPT services towards a goal of saturation of people living with HIV.
