New “Story Cache” app to guide visitors around Stiperstones

The app was created and hosted by The Stiperstones Inn, with funding from Shropshire County Council.

Shropshire storyteller, musician and community artist Sally Tonge has teamed up to create the app with Philip Sproson-Jones and his wife, Lara, the proprietors of the historic pub, which is in an area that includes the highest point in Manstone Rock dating back 480 million years. years.

Entitled ‘Story Cache’, it is filled with photographic images of the Stiperstones Area of ​​Outstanding Natural Beauty, which offers views of the Shropshire Hills including the Long Mynd, the North Shropshire Plain and the Hills of Mid Wales.

Designed to enhance the visitor experience of the Stiperstones Ridgeline and Nature Reserve, it also offers guided walks to link some of the folk tales from around the world told by Sally in a three-mile circular trail for new and inexperienced walkers , from Knolls Parking.

People can buy the app at the hostel for a small fee and set off on foot in the hills, with GPS coordinates linked to their phones so they don’t get lost.

Sally was on hand to help launch the app with Philip and Lara at a special event where tea and coffee and bacon butties were served before the new walkers set off on their journey.
