Beginning of the selection for the long-awaited Michelin Guide of Toronto

We finally have a date! Toronto restaurants will soon find out whether or not their teams have earned Michelin stars. The first selection of the highly anticipated guide will be presented next month at the historic Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto.

According to Michelin, chefs will know in real time whether they have been selected for Stars, Bib Gourmands or other MICHELIN Guide accolades on September 13.

“This is a very special moment – the first revelation of the MICHELIN Guide selection in Canada!” declared Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guides.

“We’re ready to reveal the best and brightest establishments in Toronto – a diverse city full of exceptional restaurants. Our inspectors have found several elite restaurants and are eager to celebrate the chefs and their teams.

Inspectors will award Michelin stars to “incomparable cuisine” and restaurants can receive one to three stars, depending on how impressed they are.

As for the Bib Gourmand ratings, they will be awarded to restaurants that serve high-quality cuisine at affordable prices, and the Michelin green star will be awarded to restaurants that are committed to “sustainable gastronomy”.

According to Michelin’s historical methodology, the selection is based on five universal criteria: 1) quality products; 2) mastery of flavours; 3) mastery of culinary techniques; 4) the personality of the chef in the kitchen; 5) Consistency between each visit.

Last May, Toronto was selected as the first Michelin Guide destination in Canada. It was the sixth location chosen in North America. Vancouver was chosen as the seventh destination in July 2022.
